Brixa is a fermentation and ABV tracker for wine, mead and cider. It keeps a batch log with a living gravity curve, and wraps the winemaker’s chemistry — chaptalization, acid adjustment, pH-aware molecular SO2, backsweetening and blending — around that log so the numbers auto-fill from readings you already took. It runs offline, needs no account, and every result is stated as an action rather than a bare figure.

Yes, completely. Brixa is offline-first: every calculator, every batch, every reading and every export works with the device in airplane mode, in a cellar with no signal, or on a phone that has never been online. There is no loading spinner waiting on a server, because there is no server.
The only thing that needs a connection is optional iCloud sync, and that simply catches up the next time you have one.
No. Brixa never asks for an email address, a password, a phone number or a social login. Open the app and start a batch.
This is deliberate. Forced accounts and offline failures are the single most common complaint about apps in this category, and we would rather not be one of them.
The easiest way is iCloud sync. Turn it on in Settings inside Brixa on your old phone, wait for it to finish, then sign in to the same Apple Account on the new phone and install Brixa. Your batches appear.
If you would rather not use iCloud, an encrypted iPhone backup (through iCloud Backup or a computer) also carries Brixa's data across when you restore the new device from it.
As a belt-and-braces option, export your batches as PDF or CSV before you switch, so you have a copy that does not depend on any of the above.
Free SO₂ is the total protective sulfite available in your wine. Only a small fraction of it exists as molecular SO₂ — the form that actually does the antimicrobial work — and what fraction that is depends almost entirely on pH.
That is why a single “50 ppm free SO₂” rule of thumb is misleading. At a low pH you need far less free SO₂ to reach a protective level of molecular SO₂; at a higher pH you need considerably more. Brixa takes the pH you already logged for that batch, works out the free SO₂ target that hits your chosen molecular SO₂ level, compares it to your current free SO₂ reading, and tells you the dose in grams for your actual volume.
It shows its working, so you can check it. Please do check it — sulfite dosing is the one place where a mistake matters most, and you are responsible for verifying any addition before you make it.
Yes. The US$24.99 Brixa Pro unlock is a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase. It never renews, we never bill you again, and every future Pro feature we ship is included at no extra cost. If you reinstall or get a new device, use “Restore Purchases” and your unlock comes back with your Apple Account.
We can promise this because Brixa has no running costs to cover — no server, no cloud storage bill, no per-user expense. The subscription option exists only for people who would rather spread the cost; it is not the plan we are steering you towards.
Open a batch and choose Export. You get a PDF batch report — the full timeline with readings, additions, notes and the gravity curve, suitable for printing or sending to a friend — or a CSV of the raw readings for a spreadsheet.
Exports are generated on your device and go wherever you send them through the iOS share sheet. Your data is yours; getting it out is not a paid hostage situation.
Tell us, please. Email us with the batch type, the inputs you entered (volume, pH, current and target readings, units) and what figure you expected. Every calculator in Brixa shows its working, so send a screenshot of that panel if you can — it usually makes the problem obvious in one look.
We take reports about the chemistry seriously and will fix a genuine error ahead of anything else on the list.
Email us and describe what you were trying to do when the app got in your way. That framing is far more useful than a feature name, and it is how most of Brixa got designed in the first place.
We cannot build everything, and we will not pretend otherwise — but we read every request, and things asked for repeatedly tend to get built.
