Privacy Policy

Fair Copy runs entirely on your device. Your conversations, screenshots and exports never leave your iPhone through the app.

There is no account to create, no server to sync with, no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, and no third-party SDK that transmits data.

Sharing only happens when you choose it, using the iOS share sheet, Files, or print. Until then, nothing goes anywhere.

Fair Copy is an iPhone app that turns your existing text conversations into a paginated, numbered PDF, along with a CSV and a plain-text copy. It works from three kinds of source: WhatsApp chat export files that you import into the app, screenshots that you select from your Photos, and a package created by the free Mac companion.

Fair Copy is published on the App Store by VIIONR INFOTECH PRIVATE LIMITED, which also operates this website and handles support for the app.

When you import a WhatsApp chat export file, the app reads it on your device and turns it into a Fair Copy archive. The file you import stays on your device.

Nothing about that chat is transmitted to us or to any third party. Fair Copy contains no code that sends message content anywhere.

If you choose screenshots to include, Fair Copy uses Apple’s on-device Vision framework to read the text out of them so it can be laid out in the PDF, CSV and plain-text output.

The screenshots, and the text read from them, are processed on your device. They are not uploaded to us and are not sent to any third-party service for recognition.

The free Mac companion reads your Mac’s Messages database at ~/Library/Messages/chat.db locally and read-only, and only after you grant macOS Full Disk Access. It does not modify the database.

The companion saves a package on your Mac. You move that package to your iPhone yourself, for example through AirDrop, Files or iCloud Drive. Nothing about the messages passes through a server operated by us.

You can revoke Full Disk Access at any time in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Full Disk Access.

Fair Copy stores exports on your device using SwiftData. Each export gets a SHA-256 fingerprint computed on the device so you can tell if the file changes after you save it.

You can turn on Face ID (or the passcode fallback iOS provides) to gate access to the archive. Deleting the app deletes the archive.

Fair Copy uses Apple In-App Purchase (StoreKit 2) directly. When you tap Buy or Restore, iOS talks to the App Store to process the purchase or read your entitlement.

Apple handles the payment. We never see your card details.

Apple provides the app with the receipt for your purchase so a Lifetime unlock can be recognised and restored. This is between your device, iOS and the App Store, and there is no third-party purchases SDK in Fair Copy.

This is why the App Store privacy label for Fair Copy is Data Not Collected.

There is no advertising SDK in the app and no advertising identifier is requested.

There is no analytics SDK in the app. We do not measure how you use it.

Fair Copy does not use the App Tracking Transparency framework, because it does not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.

We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it with data brokers.

Apple may provide us with aggregated or anonymised crash and usage data through App Store Connect if you have agreed to share that with developers in your iOS settings. This comes from Apple, not from code we added.

If you email us for support, we receive whatever you choose to send, such as your email address, your message, and any device details or screenshots you attach. Support messages are kept only as long as needed for support, legal, security and business records.

Because your conversations and exports stay on your device, the fastest way to erase them is to delete the app or delete individual exports inside it.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export the personal information we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. In practice the only records we may hold are support emails.

To exercise any of these rights, email us using the address below. We will respond within 30 days.

Fair Copy is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through support, contact us and we will review the request.

We are based in India. If you email us from another country, that email will reach us in India. We do not otherwise transfer personal information across borders because the app does not send us any.

Fair Copy is a tool for formatting messages you already have. It is not legal advice, it cannot guarantee that a court or authority will accept any document it produces, and the formatting does not by itself establish authenticity.

We may update this policy when the app changes or when legal requirements change. The updated date at the top of the page shows the latest version.
