Duplicate Finder

Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 25, 2026. This policy explains what Duplicate Finder: Disk Cleaner reads, where that work happens, and why the App Store privacy label is Data Not Collected.

In plain English

Duplicate Finder: Disk Cleaner has no account and no server. It scans the files, folders and photos you point it at, and all of that work happens on your Mac.

Your files, photos, file names and scan results are never uploaded to us or to anyone else.

There is no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, and no third-party SDK that transmits data. The App Store privacy label for Duplicate Finder is Data Not Collected.

What Duplicate Finder is

Duplicate Finder: Disk Cleaner is a macOS app that helps you free up disk space. It finds exact duplicate files, similar photos, duplicates in your Apple Photos library, and large or old files, and it shows a map of your disk. You review the results and choose what to move to the Trash.

The app is published on the Mac App Store by DIGITALSTALK PRIVATE LIMITED, which provides the app and handles support for it.

Folder and file access

Duplicate Finder runs in Apple’s App Sandbox. It can only read the folders and drives you choose in the standard macOS open panel. macOS may also ask you to confirm access to protected locations.

To find duplicates, the app reads file contents and metadata (name, size, dates and location) and calculates fingerprints (hashes) on your Mac. To remember folders you chose, it stores macOS security-scoped bookmarks and scan settings in its own container on your Mac.

Scan results are kept only on your Mac. You can clear them in the app or by deleting the app.

Photos library access

If you choose to scan your Apple Photos library, macOS asks for your permission first. The app uses Apple’s Photos framework to compare pictures and find duplicates and similar shots. All of this analysis runs on your Mac.

Photos are never copied off your Mac or uploaded. You can revoke access at any time in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Photos.

Deletions go to the Trash

Duplicate Finder never erases anything permanently. Files you select are moved to the macOS Trash, and Photos items are moved to the Photos app’s Recently Deleted album, where macOS asks you to confirm.

You can restore items from the Trash or from Recently Deleted until you empty them, or until Photos removes them automatically after its usual retention period.

Purchases

Duplicate Finder Pro is a one-time In-App Purchase handled by Apple through StoreKit. Apple processes the payment and we never see your card or billing details.

Apple provides the app with a signed record of your purchase so Pro can be recognised and restored. There is no third-party purchases SDK in the app.

Menu bar extra

The optional menu bar extra reads your disk’s free space from macOS on your Mac and shows it to you. Nothing is sent anywhere.

What we do not do

No advertising, no advertising identifier, no analytics, no tracking across apps or websites, and no selling or sharing of personal information.

Crash reports and support

Apple may provide us with aggregated crash data through App Store Connect if you have chosen to share analytics with developers in macOS settings.

If you email us for support, we receive what you choose to send and keep it only as long as needed for support, legal and business records.

Your rights

Because your data stays on your Mac, you can delete it at any time by clearing results in the app or by deleting the app. For any request about support emails we hold, contact us and we will respond within 30 days.

Children

Duplicate Finder is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

We may update this policy when the app or the law changes. The date at the top shows the latest version.
